Canada conducted the latest Express Entry invitation round on January 23, 2024, inviting 1,040 candidates to apply for PR approval.
The general Express Entry draw on January 23, 2024, was the second invitation round of the year. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the year’s first Express Entry draw on January 10, inviting 1,510 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 546 or more. Both draws focused on all profiles under the three main federal economic immigration pathways.
The CRS score cut-off for the second Express Entry draw was 543 points. IRCC is deviating from the fixed frequency of the Express Entry draw, making it difficult to foretell the next probable date of the invitation round. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) proposes to welcome 110,770 candidates as new permanent residents in 2024.
The breakup of the previous year’s Express Entry draws is as follows:
Total Express Entry draws in 2023- 42
All-program Express Entry draws- 19
Category-based selection draws- 17
Express Entry draws for PNP nominated candidates- 5
Federal Skilled Worker draw- 1
The standard processing time for Express Entry applications is six months. IRCC will need to issue sufficient Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence this year to accommodate next year’s target of PR admissions.
