PEI PNP Draw Selects Candidates in Healthcare, Construction, and Trucking

Prince Edward Island recently extended invitations to 75 skilled worker candidates through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). The draw, conducted on June 24, targeted candidates under the Labor Impact and Express Entry streams as part of PEI’s efforts to attract skilled workers and support its local economy.

The draw specifically focused on candidates from the healthcare and construction sectors, having a huge demand for skilled workers.

The draw also included individuals whose work permits expire before October in the Tourism, Agriculture, Fisheries, Trucking, and Transport sectors.

By targeting these specific groups, Prince Edward Island aims to address immediate labor shortages and bolster key industries within the province. This strategic approach ensures that the selected candidates can seamlessly integrate into the local workforce and contribute to the province’s economic growth.

The PEI Express Entry Category offers two pathways to Canadian permanent residence: Candidates with and without a job offer. Candidates selected through this category can benefit from an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, significantly enhancing their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian immigration.

The Prince Edward Island Labor Impact Category provides pathways to permanent residence through its Skilled Worker Stream and Critical Worker Stream. The Skilled Worker Stream requires candidates to have a full-time job offer in a TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation, post-secondary education, relevant work experience, and proficiency in English or French.

The Critical Worker Stream targets foreign workers already in PEI who are employed in specific high-demand roles, such as truck drivers and customer service representatives.

To qualify, candidates must have a full-time job offer, relevant work experience, a valid Canadian work permit, and basic proficiency in English or French.

By selecting candidates in these key sectors, Prince Edward Island aims to support its economic growth and effectively address labor shortages.
