Present immigration policies of Canada focus on attracting talent in the trades, healthcare, and tech sectors. Canada is encouraging eligible candidates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations to leverage targeted Express Entry selection.

Recognizing the historic demand for skilled trade workers, the government of Ontario is targeting skilled trades occupations through its immigration programs. Ontario is the leading province, attracting the highest number of new immigrants annually. Being the largest Canadian province, Ontario has the maximum number of vacant job positions for immigrants with experience in skilled trades occupations.

Temporary foreign workers perceive Ontario as the most suitable immigration destination. Ontario boosts the immigration of skilled workers by recognizing and supporting the Red Seal program to certify the proficiency of workers in relevant trades. Eligible skilled trades workers can seek permanent residency by qualifying for the skilled trades stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
