Canada is expanding the Francophone Mobility Program to encourage French immigration with an extension of two years, besides covering more occupations.
Canada is underlining its commitment to welcoming more French-speaking immigrants by extending its Francophone Mobility Program. The program will now enable employers to issue job offers to eligible candidates with moderate French-speaking abilities. The Francophone Mobility Program will be open for all NOCs (National Occupation Classifications) except for primary agriculture.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is revising the French language proficiency requirements to level 5 from the earlier condition of level 7 for listening and speaking abilities. The revised language ability requirements will enhance Francophone immigration as more candidates will be eligible to apply.
These are the main eligibility criteria for the Francophone Mobility Program.
Diploma or degree-level education from a French institution
French language test results
Proof of studying in a French language university or college
IRCC launched the Francophone Mobility Program under its International Mobility program in 2016 to enable Canadian employers to hire French-speaking foreign workers outside Quebec. The program exempts employers from hiring foreign workers under the Francophone Mobility Program from the LMIA requirement. Candidates qualifying for the program can seek permanent residency through the Express Entry system.
