March was a record-breaking month for Canada’s Express Entry application management system, which hit four milestones in a single month.
The notable highlights of Express Entry draws in March 2023 are as follows.
CRS scores dropped to the 27-month lowest figure
Periodic Express Entry draws invite candidates for PR application who cross a particular Competitive Ranking System (CRS) points threshold. The minimum CRS scores keep changing according to the scores of candidates in the pool at any given time.
The threshold of Comprehensive Ranking Scores in an Express Entry Draw determines the chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply. The CRS score threshold of the March 29 Express Entry draw was 481, the lowest since December 2020.
Biggest all-program Express Entry draws in the history
The month witnessed the biggest all-program draw, as the March 15 Express Entry draw processed 7,000 invitations to apply for Canada PR.
Single-month record number of ITAs over two years
IRCC conducted four Express Entry draws in March 2023, issuing 21,667 ITAs. It is the highest number of ITAs in a month over two years. March also became the second-highest month since the launch of the Express Entry system in Canada.
Three Express Entry draws issue 21,000 ITAs
The result of the two above records was a whopping 21,000 ITAs in three Express Entry draws spanning two weeks.
Express Entry – a popular PR pathway
Canada operates Express Entry to manage applications from three main economic immigration pathways. Express Entry selects top-ranking candidates applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class issuing Invitations to Apply (ITAs). These candidates can apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.
