Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship (IRCC) failed to conduct an Express Entry draw this week.
IRCC has been deviating from the standard bi-weekly frequency of Express Entry draws for some time. This week is no exception, as there has been no Express Entry round of invitations since October 26, 2023. There are two likely reasons for the long gap between two consecutive Express Entry draws.
Technical issue in the system
There is a new addition of an address field by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada to the profiles of Express Entry applicants. The new address field comprises postal code/ PIN/ ZIP. The system adds the primary applicant’s address details to the dependent family member’s section.
IRCC is resolving a technical malfunction as the system does not update the new address fields. Several candidates encounter issues while submitting online profiles using the Express Entry builder.
Certificate of Qualification update
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is revising the eligible occupations by updating the Certificate of Qualifications (COQs). The list will not include truck drivers, and these applicants will need to modify the information if they are in the occupation of truck drivers. IRCC is allowing adequate time for these candidates for profile updating.
Canada holds a regular Express Entry draw every two weeks, with few exceptions. Canada is modernizing its immigration system to address processing delays.
