2. STEM-specific PR pathway
Canada launched its first-ever category-based Express Entry draws to focus on candidates in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) occupations. The new STEM category covers 24 occupations. Candidates aspiring to receive invitations through the STEM-specific category-based Express Entry draws should strive to improve their CRS scores for greater competitiveness.
3. Expediting processing of Work Permits under the Global Talent Stream
Canada is restoring the 14-day service standard to process work permits under its Global Talent strategy. It will enable Canadian employers to attract international skilled workers speeding up the selection and recruitment of eligible immigrants. The entire process of hiring a foreign skilled worker will require just a month to finish.
4. New LMIA-exempt innovation stream
Canada is developing two pathways to attract highly talented immigrants through the International Mobility Program. Another stream will focus on certain in-demand occupations to issue work permits valid for five years with no LMIA restrictions.

Canada’s upcoming Digital Nomad Strategy will facilitate digital nomads to benefit from its rich tech infrastructure while enjoying an exceptional quality of life, immigrant-friendly communities, and scenic natural beauty. The Digital Nomad Strategy allows remote workers of foreign employers to enter Canada as visitors to live for up to six months. Tech professionals working remotely in Canada can continue living in Canada beyond the six-month Visitor Visa if they receive a job offer from a Canadian employer.
6. Enhancing the Start-up Visa Program
Foreign entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas prefer Canada’s Start-up Visa Program to launch and grow their enterprises and settle in Canada. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will process Start-up Visa applicants on priority if the applicant secures funding from a business incubator, angel investor group, or designated Canadian Venture Capital Fund. Applicants will get an open work permit to stay in Canada, awaiting a decision on the Start-up Visa application. IRCC is increasing the annual quota for start-up visa spaces from 1,000 to 3,500.
