Canada Issues 1,980 PR Invites in a Surprise Express Entry Draw

Canada held a surprise invitation round under Express Entry to invite 1,980 candidates to apply for permanent residence on March 25, 2024.

The unexpected general draw on March 25, 2024, was the first invitation round of the year held on a Monday. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) covers all programs in a general category Express Entry draw. It underscores the probability of more Express Entry draws in this week.

The new Express Entry draw reported the lowest CRS score in the general category Express Entry draws this year. Candidates needed a minimum CRS score of 524 points for selection,  continuing the recent trend of lower CRS cut-off scores.

The following CRS cut-off scores in the recent general-category Express Entry draws highlight the downward trend:

January 23- 543 points

January 31- 541 points

February 13- 535 points

February 28- 534 points

March 12- 525 points

March 25- 524 points

Canada is continuing with the same categories of Express Entry draws this year. IRCC will hold category-based Express Entry draws across six categories. These include Agriculture and agri-food, Trade, STEM, Healthcare, Transport, and the French language.
