Canada Holds PNP-specific Express Entry Draw Inviting 589 Candidates

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada conducted Express Entry draw for PNP candidates on May 10.

The PNP-specific Express Entry draw required candidates to have a minimum CRS score of 691 points. It is the first such draw since March 1, 2023, and the twelfth Express Entry draw this year. PNP-specific draw on March 1, issued 667 candidates. The recent PNP-only Express Entry draw invited 589 candidates issuing Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency.

The PNP-only Express Entry draw considers candidates with active Express Entry profiles and mandates nomination from a Canadian province under its Provincial Nominee Program. These draw consider candidates in the Express Entry pool regardless of the specific economic immigration program.

IRCC to focus on targeted Express Entry draws

Bill C-19 cleared the way for category-based Express Entry draws. However, IRCC is yet to begin these draws despite the Royal Assent to the bill on June 23, 2022. These draws will consider specific economic criteria of the candidates, including language ability, occupation, education, and location. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is returning to the standard schedule of draws occurring every second Wednesday. IRCC held weekly Express Entry draws in March 2023, inviting over 21,000 candidates by conducting four back-to-back draws.
