BREAKING: Canada Plans to Introduce a New Digital Nomad Visa by End of 2023

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is working out the details of the Digital Nomad Visa as part of the Tech Talent Strategy.

Canada aims to become the top global destination for international tech talent by introducing a Digital Nomad Visa to attract digital nomads. IRCC will expedite the visa process to enable digital nomads to get the visa within two months of applying. Several organizations allow employees to work remotely from anywhere in the world.

These digital nomads will enter Canada on a six-month visitor visa while working for an employer outside Canada. It will help them qualify for the digital nomad category. They can secure employment from a Canadian employer and submit a three-year work permit application. The Canadian work experience will enable digital nomads to apply for permanent residency through different PR pathways.

Digital nomads can travel anywhere as they work remotely from coworking spaces, temporary housing facilities, and public libraries. They require access to internet connectivity for remote working. The IRCC is working with private and public partners to develop policies to attract global tech talent to Canada and enhance the digital nomad strategy.
