Alberta and Prince Edward Island Invite Candidates for Permanent Residency in Recent Invitation Rounds

Alberta and Prince Edward Island conducted October month’s first rounds of invitations, inviting over 50 candidates for permanent residency.

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program

Alberta held a recent invitation round for the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) on October 3, 2023, to invite 33 candidates for permanent residence. The AAIP draws targeted candidates from the Priority Sector of Agriculture under the Alberta Job Offer stream. Candidates required a minimum CRS score of 313 to receive nominations for permanent residence.

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program

On October 5, 2023, Prince Edward Island held the first PEI PNP draw of the month. The draw focused on candidates under the Labor and Express Entry category. Prince Edward Island selected 20 candidates with work experience in healthcare and food processing occupations.

PEI began targeted invitation rounds in July 2023. The province invited 505 candidates in the construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and food processing sectors until now. All PEI PNP draws before July 20 did not focus on specific occupations.

Provincial immigration

Canada’s provinces create Provincial Nominee Programs tailored to their labor market, demographic, and economic needs. Provincial governments can design specific nominee programs to target occupation categories in line with category-based Express Entry draws. Candidates receiving provincial nomination must apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency.
